About Belt's
The Belt's Corporation, founded in 1845 is Maryland's oldest and largest warehousing and distribution company. Founded on "Belt's Wharf" in Historic Fells Point by a group of Baltimore merchants, Belt's was the terminal of the coffee fleet of Baltimore Merchant C. Morton Stewart and the berth of the famous ship, "The Josephine." The Josephine was the most successful vessel in the fleet and held the record for the fastest passage from Rio De Janeiro to Baltimore. Like the Josephine, Belt's roots may be on the Fells Point waterfront, but its reach is international.
Over the past 150 years, Belt's has been an important contributor to the growth of the Port of Baltimore, and the emergence of Maryland as a preeminent distribution center in the Mid-Atlantic. During the last 20 years, Belt's has evolved from waterfront warehouse handling imported commodities and food products to the most innovative provider of logistics services in the region. Operating more than a million and a half square feet of its own space Belt's offers full service distribution, transportation, real estate development and value added services.
In the 1970's, long before third party distribution operations became fashionable, Belt's President, S.A. "Skip" Brown, III, recognized the importance of bringing value and innovation to Belt's customers. Through innovative partnerships with its customers and custom designed solutions, Belt's has become a leader in integrated logistics programs. Belt's approach to its customers is embodied in the Partnership - Logistics - Solutions program. Through a unique combination of in-house capabilities in warehousing and distribution, transportation, real estate development and value added services, Belt's can deliver a one-stop, custom tailored solution, not the "off the shelf" packages offered by its competitors. From traditional public warehousing of imported products, to long term contract distribution involving build-to-suit facilities and dedicated staffing, Belt's creates solutions that enable its customers to improve service and better manage their inventory. As an extension of your manufacturing or distribution activities, Belt's can help you improve your bottom line. By putting all of the pieces together, Belt's solves the logistics "puzzle."
